With the purpose of protecting humans, property and domestic animals, Argentina enacted Article 92/98 on February 16, 1998. The article expressly stipulates that, through a compulsory certification system implemented by an accredited certification unit, the minimum safety requirements for low-tension electrical equipment products in Argentina are implemented.

Article 92/98 The certification system for mandatory products proposes three stages of safety requirements: compliance certification, type certification and product certification (S-Mark).

The third phase of product certification (S-Mark) is enforced from the following dates: 1.April 1, 2001-electronic materials such as:

Electronic devices such as electronic components, fuses and wires

2. December 1, 2003-Electronic products such as:

· Electric iron · Electric heater · Power tool · Refrigerator · Freezer · Air conditioner · Portable kitchen appliances · Electric shaver · Beauty salon products · Lamp holder and electric lamp material · Electric lamp

3. February 1, 2004-electrical products such as:

灯具 · Lights · Mowers and similar appliances · Washing machines · Dishwashers · Kitchen appliances (excluding portable kitchen appliances) · Microwave ovens · Electric fans · Vacuum cleaners and floor treatment related equipment

4. August 1, 2004:

· All appliances defined by Resolution 92/98 but not listed above and other appliances (such as IEC 60950,60065,61010,… ..)

5.231.31.003

· All appliances whose voltage is lower than 50V or higher than 63A

  Technical Information

1. Argentina voltage is AC220V / 50Hz

2. There are two types of plugs, which are divided into Class I grounded and Class II ungrounded

3. The plug of the power cord should be verified by IRAM or TUV Argentina S-Mark

4. There are 3 different plugs in Argentina:

<250V / 10A Class I (IRAM 2073 standard)

<250V / 20A Class I (IRAM 2073 standard)

<250V / 10A Class II (IRAM 2063 standard)

Normalization procedure

The "normalization process" is some of the necessary measures to make the product immediately available on the Argentine market.

Here are some ways to get products to market through the `` normalization process '':

· Install appropriate power cord set

· Refit the power cord set to a qualified power cord set

· Refit the power plug to a qualified Argentina plug

· A Argentina S-Mark logo / tag label attached

For the difference of imported products, refer to the following operation methods for assembly:

1. Product with power jack

的 For products using additional power cord sets, the applicant can decide for themselves whether to import additional power cord sets into Argentina. If the power cord is not attached, it must be mentioned in the test report, the power cord set has not been evaluated, and it will be indicated on the certificate. If a power cord set is added in Argentina, it is part of the certification. Germany ’s Rhein Argentina branch will take a “normalization procedure” and go to the warehouse where the power plug is replaced for a simplified factory inspection.

2. Products with fixed power cord

If the fixed power plug attached to the product imported into Argentina does not pass the Argentina safety regulations, the local seller or importer must replace the plug approved by the Argentine certification unit. Rhein will perform a simplified factory inspection before issuing the certificate.

3. Products without S-Mark logo or correct product label

The S-Mark logo can be added as soon as the product arrives in Argentina, but before it is released for sale. Rhein will perform a simplified factory inspection before issuing the certificate.

实施 Delayed implementation of the third phase of the mandatory compliance mark

The 418/2002 provisions were announced on June 3, 2002. Except for the products that comply with the mandatory mark on April 1, 2001, including electronic components, fuses and wires, the rest are in the former Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mines. The implementation date of the third phase of the mandatory compliance mark for the products covered by Article 92/98 has been extended to December 1, 2002. However, appliances with a voltage lower than 50V or higher than 63A will still maintain the implementation date of December 31, 2002.

The products affected include:

1. Electric iron, air conditioner, electric heater, portable kitchen appliances, electric tools, electric shaver, refrigerator, beauty salon products, freezer, lamp holder and lamp parts, range hood, auxiliary lighting equipment

2. Lamps, lawn mowers and similar appliances, washing machines, dishwashers, kitchen appliances (excluding portable kitchen appliances), microwave ovens, fans, vacuum cleaners and floor beauty related equipment

3. All other appliances specified in 92/98, for example, products complying with IEC 60950, 60065, 61010 and other specifications.
